I've noticed your first observation for myself as well. Pondering such things often makes me wonder if the universe isn't completely deterministic in some way.

That's the theory anyway, but if it worked out that way then a simple study of buying volume minus selling volume would make everything easy and me rich! I wonder do people keep repeating these things to each other, kinda like religion, until it all becomes fact and nobody dares to say the emperor's naked! Jason's right when he touches on the market revolving around forced liquidation, suck you in, chew you up, and spit you out, minus your money lf course.

"still maintains that someone such as myself without belief in a god must necessarily live a meaningless life"

I don't get it. did he tell you this?
I mean I think a lot of religious people will beleive that you can find meaning in life irrespective of your belief in God. If you perform CPR and save a religious man's life, don't you think even he/she would agree you behaved in a virtous manner?

Victor Frnakel in his book Man's search for meaning describes the healthy psycological state of mind as one that has perceived his situation as purposeful. A survivor has told me that the way she survived was that she had meaning in her live. Shewas determined to live to tell others what happened.

The non-believer who has a positive purpose in life be it find a cure for cancer, would have a meaningful life.
